In March of 1995, Swayamkrushi organized a workshop on ‘Early Identification and Rehabilitation of Persons with Cerebral Palsy’ in collaboration with the World Health Organization and the Director General of Health Services, Government of India. Today, we have under our wing, an agency called ACCePT (Association for the Care of Cerebral Palsied Tots) where we assist children with cerebral palsy and autism. Along with the regular academic curriculum, speech and physiotherapy, emphasis is placed activities of daily living such as toilet-training, meal-time procedures and self-help.
We also offer a program of mutual rehabilitation through Saranya. Here, destitute women are provided with care and options. Many of them are offered care-giver training and absorbed into Swayamkrushi.
At Vrudhapya, we provide care for senior citizens with developmental and mental challenges. This agency is the first of its kind.
With Grameenya, we offer an integrated rural project for tribal women regardless of their developmental status. This program is based in the Nalgonda District of Andhra Pradesh.
Aaramam, another programme under the Swayamkrushi aegis, Extended Stay and Respite Care are provided for developmentally challenged orphans and individuals living below the poverty line.
Swayamkrushi is the State Nodal Agency Centre (SNAC) for the National Trust. Via this wing, we provide welfare for persons with autism, cerebral palsy, mental retardation and multiple disabilities. The main goal is to create awareness of various programmes and of legal guardianship. |
