RECIPIENT OF NATIONAL AWARD, 2002
Swayamkrushi has been awarded with the prestigious National Award in the category of Best Institution for the Mentally challenged persons in India for the year, 2002. Mrs. Manjula Kalyaan received the award from the President of India Dr. Abdul Kalam on December 3rd at Vignan Bhavan, New Delhi .
Manjula Kalyan, the founder Director of Swayamkrushi was felicitated with Sadguru Janananada National Award 2002 for her services towards empowerment of the mentally challenged persons.
November 19, 2000 was indeed a landmark in the history of our institution. Swayamkrushi bagged the coveted Dr. Konda Shakuntala Devi Foundation Award for being the best Institute. It was a historic moment indeed, as it was merely the beginning of the recognition we have sought for ten long years.
Walk-a-Mile was another landmark in our calendar. Conceptualised as yet another event in our constant efforts to raise funds for the mentally challenged, this walk was flagged off by Shri Rangarajan, Governor of Andhra Pradesh on December 10, 2001 . Noted film personality and popular heart-throb, Shri Jagapathi Babu actively encouraged the local populace by walking from Raj Bhavan to Necklace Road .
Yet again in December 2004 we celebrated the Walk-a-mile program. This time the walk was flagged of by the honorable speaker of Andhra Pradesh Shri Suresh Reddy at NTR Ghat. This awareness creation saw the participation of popular film star Mr. Prakash Raj.
On 3 rd December 2004 , Swayamkrushi participated in State Government organized World Disabled Day with great enthusiasm. The self-advocacy songs by the students received a huge appreciation. |
