Swayamkrushi follows a dual system of rehabilitation which consists of socio-cultural rehabilitation and economic rehabilitation. We promote an all-round development of the individual with the goal of a secure life in the future.
The core idea is to provide the individuals with a Group Home environment wherein they receive supervision and training. Each home has eight trainees and is managed by a resident staff member. This model aims at:
- providing a family life
- providing opportunities to experience normal developmental stages
- providing the ability to manage household chores independently
- providing the experience of living in one place and working in another
- facilitating integration into the community
Our treatment team comprises of disciplines determined by the individual’s needs and goals. A comprehensive assessment precedes an intensive training programme where coaching is provided in multiple areas such as hygiene, safety, money and home management, vocation, problem solving and judgment skills. Disciplines include education, physiotherapy, speech therapy and vocational training. Experts, qualified and experienced special educators and social workers work hand-in-hand to provide quality care.
The programme is occasionally extended for a year for those who display a keen interest and are assessed to be appropriate for advanced training. After completion of the initial phase described above, the economic rehabilitation process commences. Herein, the individual receives additional training in job-related skills such as social interaction and use of public transport. Upon completion, the individual is provided with a job-placement and additional opportunities for integration into the community. |
